14 Caravan Parks to Open in Malaysia!

One of the many questions we get asked by friends and family is “Where will you park?” Our reply is that we will be boondocking our way around and the very next question they would ask is “Is it safe?”

We have spent the last few months searching for our travel rig and somehow we stumbled upon an article announcing a list of 14 Caravan parks about to open in Johor Bahru.

We are glad to hear that the chance to holiday in a Caravan will soon be available to Malaysians but at the same time we wonder who will visit these parks when it has proven to be so difficult to afford a new Caravan here in Malaysia. You practically have to re-mortgage your house to own one. Perhaps Malaysia is finally opening its market to importing Caravans? I bet just when our travel rig is finally complete, an array of new Caravans will appear available for sale everywhere!!

Nonetheless, providing people places to park a Caravan is really a great start!! We hope that people will start building their own travel rigs and spend more time enjoying camping and nature.

So if you’re thinking about one day getting your own Caravan or Camper Van, Motorhome or Camper Truck, we have put together a summary of what you will find readily available here in Malaysia to date 2017. (Through our experience)

  3. Hi there! Thanks for the inspiration and now I’m planning to convert my sedan car into a camper. I have watched most of your YouTube videos and felt like it is something I must do!
I am in need of some advice and hope you can me 🙂
I’ll be going on a road trip with my wife and daughter after the conversion but would like to try to sleep in a car at a place that is somewhat close to town and feels safe for newbies like us. Any recommendations? We live in KL, somewhere near for a night’s stay will be great for a starter.

    • Hi Max so happy to hear you’re inspired. When we began we started With Cameron Highlands for 2 reasons, it’s close by and the weather is great for car camping. It’s best before you choose to stay a night spend time to go recce the place first on a day trip one weekend just so you can really see where it is you would stay. Another place for us is Langkawi. That was the best because it’s so safe in the whole island. We stayed at Pantai Kok and also on the Tanjung Rhu side of the island. We also stayed in Penang, one night at Fort Cornwallis sea front coz there is a public shower at the beginning of that street another night was at Batu Ferringhi. Cameron’s and Fraser’s hill good places to try for first timers.

  4. Hi to Sam & Rene, my name is Sunny Yeoh. I have been watching your video lately. I’m soon to be retired. I wonder where I could try out campervan first before going for it fulltime.
