What you will need is Bitumen Flashing Tape – it’s a cheap and effective way to sound dampen your car for under RM20/Roll. If you ask for a discount just as we Malaysians will always do – you can get it for RM17/Roll just remember to give them your best smile.

So where exactly did we learn this nifty trick? Where else but You Tube – I will leave a link to the video I found at the end of this article. We will also be editing our version of how we sound dampened our van. For now, here’s how we did it. Quite simple and it saved us thousands.

We opened our wall panels and began sticking the Bitumen Flashing Tape in areas that needed better sound dampening. You can knock the exterior walls of your vehicle to listen for empty hollow sounds and lay the tape on the inside of that area. We also did the roof of our van because that area had the most hollow sound.

SOUND DEADENING FOR THE VAN FLOOR 

We also lined the grooves of our van’s floor with the Biumen Tape. It has done wonders for our van in terms of sound proofing.
